New Delhi: The national capital is witnessing a sharp rise in swine flu (H1N1) infections, with 54% of households in Delhi reporting COVID-like symptoms, according to a LocalCircles survey. The symptoms—fever, sore throat, cough, headache, stomach troubles, joint pain, and respiratory issues—are putting a strain on medical facilities and heightening public concern.
Hospitals across Delhi-NCR, including Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, are reporting a surge in flu cases, particularly among children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions like diabetes, asthma, or hypertension. The number of affected households has risen dramatically from 38% in August 2024 to 54% in the latest survey.
Survey Insights: Flu Cases on the Rise
A survey of 13,000 respondents revealed:
✔ 9% reported that four or more members in their household were symptomatic.
✔ 45% said 2-3 individuals were affected.
✔ 36% stated their household was symptom-free.
